A Leadership Minute: Taking Stock of 2012
It’s that time of the year again. Christmas lights fill the homes and we celebrate this season of love, giving and most of all, the birth of Christ. How has your 2012 been?
As 2012 comes to close, it is time to take stock of the things that have happened over the past year.
- What have you learnt?
- What were some key decisions you have made in your personal life? Which ones were bad?
Asking yourself these questions is important. It allows us to move on to the next stage of our lives.
Maybe the next stage means moving from the role of an executive to a manager, maybe it means to take leadership of your church, maybe it means moving from dating to marriage.
Sometimes, because we did not learn particular lessons, we are bound to repeat the same mistakes again. We feel stuck in a place as we are making detour after detour.
And yet, we are only stuck there because we refuse to pick up the lesson that needs to be learnt.
I am sure you have met people around you that seem to always stay at the same stage of their lives.
Their jobs do not challenge them anymore but they choose to stay in the same role and position year after year. They have been dating different ones year after year but it never seems to end in marriage.
I don’t want you to be in this situation.
As a leader, you simply cannot allow yourself to be stagnant. You have to be progressive in your life. You have to learn and grow and become better with each year!
So take the time in this Christmas season to think and reflect!
2013 will be even more awesome for you!
