Organizational Leadership

Grooming Leaders in Companies

Leadership is required at all levels of an organization. If an organization wants to survive in the fast-paced 21st-century world, it needs leaders who are progressive, competent and fearless.

Through model organizational leaders like Steve Jobs, Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, we can clearly see what top leaders can do for their organizations. Their visionary leadership has made their respective companies Apple, Tesla and Facebook to become the top companies of the modern world.

While the media profiles these leaders, we must be mindful that they’re not the only ones making their organizations great. Sometimes, with so much attention on these leaders, we can begin to believe the lie that one good leader is all it takes to make a great organization.

This, of course, is not true. Leaders are found at every level in the organization. In fact, that’s what outstanding leaders do: they develop and raise leaders from within as opposed to hiring them from outside.

This work behind the scenes is what the media doesn’t profile. While we see these leaders running their super cool organizations at the latest product conference, we don’t see the tremendous effort these leaders take to develop leaders.

With every CEO of a giant company, there are hundreds, if not thousands of leaders working under them. If Steve Jobs did not have leaders in the middle management, Apple would not have gotten to where it is today. Likewise for Tesla and Facebook.

Every company needs a carefully thought out leadership development plan. Without it, the company will be destined to remain small and ineffectual, unable to grow beyond a certain size.
